This weeks phrase: “Whenever I find myself growing grim about the mouth; whenever it is a damp, drizzly November in my soul;” – Moby Dick by Herman Melville.
The view from his flat was the same as the previous day—actually, the entire month. Gray, calm waters, waiting for him to traverse them.
But Brandon wasn’t feeling it. He wasn’t feeling much of anything. I find myself growing grim, whenever it’s a damp drizzly November. My soul aches.
This story was written for the 50 word Thursday challenge, this week

Excellent twist into the present. It’s only September but I feel your protag’s pain….
Thanks. Violet. Living in Pennsylvania, we see weather like this all the time.
Depression- a dangerous emotion. Well done, Michele
Thanks, Jacquie. It certainly is. And to make matters worse, many people are unable to get the help that they need.
I like this one!
Thanks, Joan. It’s a difficult road to traverse. Once you get so far, it’s hard to turn around.
Well written. So very November-ish. My soul is now worried about what is to come. 😉
Thanks, Ally. I don’t think you should worry. You will be just fine.
