This weeks phrase: “I solemnly swear that I am up to no good.”
J.K. Rowling, The Prisoner of Azkaban
Preston saw the man sitting alone on the bench and turned to Alvin, “I solemnly swear that I am up to no good. Let’s have a little fun.”
He waved his hand and a chanted. Storm clouds filled the sky, rain fell, the river swelled, and the shore flooded. But the man never moved. He lowered his head and spoke softly.
“What the—?”
Before Preston finished, the man stood. The skies cleared and the water receded. Both boys stood, dumbfounded. He transformed before them into the great wizard, Eldron.
In a low voice he said, “I’m terribly disappointed in each of you. For this you shall be punished.” Another wave of his hand and Preston and Alvin were transported to a cell where their magic was useless.
Eldron entered and stared at the boys.
“It was just a joke. We meant no harm,” Preston said.
“Gentlemen, actions have consequences.”
This story was written for the 50 word Thursday challenge, this week hosted by Teresa , The Haunted Wordsmith.
Give it a try. You might be surprised at what you can compose.
Leave a comment. I’d love to hear from you.
Love it! (I always enjoy a good HP reference.)
Me too. Thanks, Staci.
Seems kind of harsh, but parts of the country have been flooding for months.
A hard lesson to learn.
That will make the boys think twice before doing anything so foolish again!
I think so. Thanks, Mae.
A lesson learned- we hope!
We can hope.
Woah! Nice one
Thank you. Will the boys learn their lesson?
Yes, they’ll surely remember this incident every time they plan on doing anything mischievous, and then think twice before going ahead with it😀
Let’s hope so.
