Temporary Normal?
One month ago life was different. We went out, shopped with friends, had social gatherings, parties, dined at our favorite restaurants. We did what we wanted, when we wanted.
Now, things are temporarily different. We stay home. We keep our social distance. We have changed our usual routine.
I stayed home and enjoyed my coffee alone. No meeting friends, no visiting my parents. Just me and my coffee. (One of my favorite all time movies is “The Wizard of Oz” and my Dad’s name is Bob)
For the past two weeks, we have also experienced something I never thought I would see, Catholic Mass online. It was a strange experience. I sat in my living room, shared my chair with my dogs, and celebrated Mass.
It was a surreal experience. Sitting and seeing an empty church. Saying the prayers aloud in my living room. Singing along with the television cantor (For the record, I can’t sing).
This will be the first year ever that we will not celebrate Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday with our family. It will take some getting used to. But for everyone, safety must come first.
When we are given the green light to go back to our normal routines, may we be kinder, more patient, and happy to be out with our friends.
Until then, stay safe everyone.
This does feel very strange. I’ve been working from home for almost two weeks. Haven’t been to the physical church in three. They have live streaming but I miss seeing everyone. But we’ll get through this and I hope come out stronger than before. Take care of yourself!
Thanks, Joan. I couldn’t agree more. I believe you are right. We will be better than before. Stay Safe!
