Biscuits and Gravy
This weeks breakfast special will be biscuits and sausage gravy. This is a family favorite that that is easy to make.
I have been making this for my family for years with various sides. It's an easy recipe and can feed a large family.
Even better, the recipe can be easily doubled when you have overnight guests.
I usually have all the ingredients needed to make this breakfast on hand in my pantry, refrigerator, and freezer.
To accompany my biscuits and gravy, I make home fries, sausage links, and eggs. More pantry and fridge ingredients that are staples in my house.
Choose your family's favorite side as your accompaniment.
If you don’t feel like making the biscuits, you can get your favorite brand from the dairy department. Just heat and eat!
Don’t worry if you don’t have buttermilk, you can use the following substitution: To make one cup of buttermilk, substitute 1 tablespoon of white vinegar or lemon juice plus enough milk to measure 1 cup. Stir and let stand for 5 minutes.
In less than an hour, you can make this breakfast for you family.

Did you know that you can make stuffed biscuits with sausage gravy? Simply make your sausage gravy the night before and reduce the amount of milk by 1/2 cup. You need to have the gravy thicker to stuff inside your biscuits.
In the morning, after you have made your biscuit dough, cut out your biscuits, flatten them to about 1/2 inch thick and spoon one tablespoon of dough into your flattened biscuit, then fold the sides of the dough around the gravy pinching the dough together at the top.
Place the biscuit seam side down on a parchment lined baking sheet and flatten slightly with your hand. Bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and brush the tops of the biscuits with melted butter when they come out of the oven. Great for a meal on the go.
Sounds awesome to me.
Thanks, Craig. I have been cooking a lot more than normal since there is nothing else to do.
Good to know that works too! I learn so much from you as well! Keep it up great post.
Thank you. Glad you learned something.
